Welcome!

UBC Linguistics is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The Department of Linguistics at UBC was founded in 1969 by Dr. Robert Gregg as its chair, and it has contributed many fundamental insights the formal-theoretical linguistics, experimental and field linguistics, acquisition and computational approaches to the study of communicative behaviour. The department has a proud tradition of exceptional scholarship and a deep commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.  Students of the program have now successfully defended over 150 dissertations and gone on to many prominent positions in the field.

We would like to invite you to join us in our celebration! The event will take place from April 15-April 18 2019, at UBC Campus in Vancouver. The main locations will be Totem Field Studios and Stores Rd. Annex.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Vancouver in April!
